Congressmen Asks US Tillerson to Respect Salvadorian Elections

Washington, Feb 27 (Prensa Latina) Twenty Democratic congressmen asked the US Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, for his country to remain without interfering in the legislative and municipal elections of El Salvador next Sunday.

In a letter, quoted today by press reports, the plaintiffs urge the State Department to remain neutral in their comments and actions regarding that process.

According to the signatories of the letter, they are willing to work with Tillerson to ensure that their nation promotes the Salvadoran capacity to conduct free and fair elections, whose electoral roll includes more than five million voters.

The news reports stated that Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, for the state of Illinois, was responsible for leading this initiative.
