I have seen the future of the Trump presidency. It features an eviction notice, a document shredder and a bunch of agitated people peppering each other with angry insults. Kinda like the White House on a calm day!
Youre probably still trying to make sense of Donald Trumps crazed solution for all these mass shootings in schools more guns in the classroom! Me, Ive been gazing south, past Florida, to the Latin American nation of Panama, where the majority owner of the Trump International Hotel & Tower is desperately trying to rid the condo-hotel of any connection to Donald Trump.
No, Trump doesnt actually own this Trump tower. He didnt design or build it. He just slapped his name on the place and let his people run it, which theyve been doing abysmally, it seems. Like a Trump, you might say.
Anyway, a Miami businessman named Orestes Fintiklis bought up 202 of the hotels 369 rooms at fire-sale prices last fall, noticing that hardly anyone in Panama wanted to stay somewhere named Trump. On Thursday, Fintiklis showed up at the failing hotel with an eviction notice, demanding the Trump Organization management team hand over the keys. They refused, locked themselves in an office and, from the sound of things in the hallway, started shoveling piles of paper into the shredding machine. The police were called. At one point, the power was turned off. There was a lot of yelling in the lobby and the hallways.

It should come as no surprise that Donald Trumps business career has led him into some shady shit. Last November, the news broke that Alexandre Nogueira, the Brazilian businessman who in 2007 helped facilitate funding for the Trump Ocean Club International Hotel and Tower in Panama City, had secured investments related to the project Trumps first international hotel property from, among others, a convicted Columbian money-launderer, suspected human trafficker from the Ukraine, and a Russian dude who once did five years in an Israeli prison for kidnapping somebody. Additionally, it was reported that Norueira pocketed deposits on some units in the building, double-sold others, and is currently under investigation in Brazil for laundering money himself.
On Saturday, February 24, the Associated Press reported that executives from the Trump Organization, involved with the management of the building, are refusing to comply with a termination notice levied by the hotels owners association. Instead, according to the AP, Trumps managers retreated behind the glass walls of an office where they were seen carrying files to an area where the sounds of a shredding machine could be heard.
The report also notes that:
Elsewhere in the building, the hotel owners team and its allies were barred by Trump Hotel staff from entering the room containing the buildings closed-circuit TV system as well as key computer servers for the hotel and apartments that share the property. In response, they shut off power to the room temporarily bringing down phone lines and internet connections within the building.
