European observers slam Colombia for failures in peace process

by Adriaan Alsema February 12, 2018

. . .

According to the commission, the government has yet to execute 81.5% of the agreements made with the FARC to end more than 50 years of armed conflict.

. . .

The Colombian government has come under increasing international pressure over the failures in the peace process that began on December 1, 2016.

Violence indicators have barely changed and more than 170 social leaders in the South American country were assassinated, often by paramilitary groups.

The FARC recently suspended its first political campaign after attacks that in some cases had been instigated by hard-right politicians and extreme right activists.

"The FARC recently suspended its first political campaign after attacks that in some cases had been instigated by hard-right politicians and extreme right activists."

The vast majority of violence aimed at FARC has come from its own Marxist-Leninist ilk in the ELN (former FARC) who refuse to forswear violence. The rest seems to be coming from the people who FARC claims to represent their interests... the poor rural folk, who have taken it upon themselves to bombard FARC politicians with eggs and rotting vegetables in retaliation for the 50 years of enslaving and murdering them.

This according to FARC themselves.

Who are these hard-right and extreme-right people you are saying are responsible for violence aimed at FARC? Seems FARC can only get about 2% support in the entire country.
