NB: Aporrea is a Chavista website.

While this may seem like an extraordinary amount of money, it isn't. It is just a large amount of cash, which is rare. Since Chavismo is a poor financial steward of state resources due to mismanagement and hyperinflation, cash is getting very rare, and it takes nearly a suitcase of it to purchase a cup of coffee. The 100 Bolivar note is worth... not much. You would need 2,250 100 BsF notes to buy $1 worth of lunch. ($3 is more than the monthly minimum wage). Better bring the wheelbarrow.

So, despite what the Chavista press has to say about this "crackdown", it was just another heavy handed raid where more cash was confiscated by the authorities and put into their own pockets. (you know dang well if 100 million BsF was reported, about 400 BsF was pocketed.

This market will now close, and NO FOOD OR MEDICINE will be found at any price. Chavismo for another win!
