Venezuelan merchants arming themselves in the wake of second round of "legal looting"

"We are arming ourselves": Traders in Táchira take action against a wave of looting
The Cooperator

Caracas, January 18 .- The waves of looting in several states of the country has caused merchants to shutter their stores and some of those in charge armed themselves in case they are victims of these irregular events.

According to the journalists Alexandra Ulmer and Anggy Polanco, in the Reuters news agency , the acceleration of inflation in the country, as well as the shortage of food have triggered looting since last December.

They also noted that supermarkets, trucks, liquor stores and food distribution centers are "the targets" of looters. In the case of Táchira state, the merchants have decided to take measures for not believing that the authorities offer them protection.

William Roa, president of the association of merchants of the municipality Garcia de Hevia, said that " we are armed with sticks, knives, machetes and firearms to defend our heritage" and stressed that "we have communications by WhatsApp groups coordinated by apples the 24 hours a day. "

"... not believing that the authorities offer them protection"! That's a laugh! The authorities are the ones who are coordinating the looting. Taking a page from Robert Mugabe's book on "How to Devastate an Economy", the Chavistas let the faithful know when and where to show up in order to get their freebies. If the store owners refuse to open, then the GNB opens it up for them and its a free for all.
