The opposition will not attend the dialogue in the Dominican RepublicJan 18, 2018 6:00 am
The Venezuelan opposition meeting in the Democratic Unity Table (MUD) will not attend this Thursday the dialogue meeting with the Government of Nicolás Maduro, scheduled to be held in the Dominican Republic with the accompaniment of several countries.
The secretary general of the opposition Democratic Action (AD) party, Henry Ramos Allup, told local newspaper El Universal that his formation will not attend this meeting, the fourth session of a negotiation process that started on December 1 under the auspices of the president. Dominican, Danilo Medina.
Meanwhile, the portal Crónica Uno said that the opposition delegation will not go to Santo Domingo "in rejection of the statements of the Interior Minister" according to which, in the framework of the dialogue, the opposition provided information on the whereabouts of Oscar Pérez, an ex-policeman revolt that was killed on Monday in police operation.

Backstory: An embarrassment for Chavismo, a former police officer (Oscar Pérez) rebelled, and without harming anyone, started a minor revolution. Maduro's answer? Death sentence, despite the fact that the former cop was willing to surrender and face the Chavista legal system. Oscar Pérez was blown to shit by a Russian RPG, as well as civilians (including a pregnant woman and her children) who wanted to leave the house. Anyone suggesting that Maduro was too heavy handed in this debacle has been labeled an "enemy of the state" and will be charged with the newly enabled "Hate Crime" statutes.

(2,412 posts)2. And who was injured in these symbolic acts?
Not a single person. No one got so much as a scratch. But he sure embarrassed Maduro.
Compare and contrast that to the civilians murdered by Chavez when he started his coup in 1992. 143 people died courtesy of Chavez.
What a shame that Chavez didn't get the same consideration that Perez did.
