According to information published by the Documentation and Social Analysis Center of the Venezuelan Federation of Teachers , the Food Basket for the month of November 2017 had a cost of Bs. 3,822,128.50, showing an inter- monthly variation of 40.1% , which translates into in Bs.1,094,522.13.
This variation in absolute numbers is higher than that registered in the previous month (October), which was Bs.882,769.61.
With the recent adjustment of 30% the minimum wage barely can buy 4.6% of the food basket , which shows a drastic fall in the purchasing power of the salary of the Venezuelan.
The Cendas said that the data completed are unprecedented in the national registry . In this sense, he informed that between November 2016 and November 2017 the food basket registered an annualized variation of 903%.

So, the new monthly minimum wage only
covers less than 5% of the cost of what it takes to feed a family of 4 for that month. God forbid clothes need to be purchased. Or transportation needed. Medicine? Venezuela doesn't even have aspirin or bandaids... who can afford insulin or a generic anti-hypertensive? At least they can wipe their ass with the worthless 100 Bs note. Since toilet paper is scarce.
