Maduro rejects humanitarian aid for the country

The president said that Venezuela does not beg because it is strong. He called on the opposition to hold talks this week in Miraflores

The head of state said yesterday that the country does not require humanitarian aid. The statement was made in the 98th edition of the program "Sundays with Maduro", a day after the government and the opposition concluded the first negotiation phase in the Dominican Republic, where one of the requirements of the MUD is the opening of a channel for the entry of food and medicines into the country.

"Venezuela is a thriving, hardworking country; it is not a country of beggars, as some have claimed with humanitarian aid. No. Venezuela produces its worth, one feels proud. It is also a false story" he said.

He acknowledged that the country is experiencing problems, but pointed out that they can be overcome with a formula that combines "solidarity, love, socialism." The president summoned the opposition delegation to the negotiation, headed by the president of the National Assembly, Julio Borges, to a meeting this week in Miraflores to advance towards the December 15 meeting in the Dominican Republic.

The problem being:

1. If Maduro accepts humanitarian aid, he by default accepts that there is a "humanitarian crisis", and all that accompanies such a declaration. The Chavistas refuse to acknowledge that there is any crisis. Maduro says it is all US propaganda. Delcy Rodriguez says its "a lack of willpower". Meanwhile, people die due to lack of simple medicines (insulin, antibiotics) and malnutrition. It is estimated that 40% of the population eats out of rubbish bins.

2. Maduro doesn't acknowledge the existence of the National Assembly (AN) any longer. He wants the AN to acknowledge his hand picked, unconstitutional Chavista assembly, the ANC. What he is after is the AN to cede power, so that the ANC can start writing blank checks again. He cannot re-negotiate his loans without the AN approval.

3. Maduro claims that Venezuela has no "political prisoners"... only "criminals who are politicians". How can he release political prisoners when none exist?

4. Maduro insists that the recent landslide pro-Chavista elections were fair and transparent. When in fact, the Carter Center has deemed fraudulent and the vote machine manufacturer (Smartmatic) said there was fraud, in a nation where Maduro has less than 20% support.

Maduro wants dialogue, but won't even acknowledge there is a problem. How do you dialogue with the delusional?

The president of the Coalition of Organizations for the Right to Health and Life (Codevida), Francisco Valencia, rejected the statements offered by the Minister of Health, Luis Lopez, who indicated that he will not allow "the imposition of a humanitarian aid to Venezuela. from the right. "

Valencia said that with the entry of humanitarian aid is not seeking a foreign intervention for Venezuela. "What we want to bring is medicines to the country so that people stop suffering. Enough is enough!"

The president of Codevida indicated that it must be forceful with the humanitarian emergency because it is above any negotiation. "You can not negotiate with people's lives. We need a signal of concern for the political sectors, especially the government that is the main responsible, "he said.

On December 1 and 2, a negotiation process between the government and the opposition took place in the Dominican Republic where Valencia participated in the opposition delegation to promote the opening of the humanitarian channel in Venezuela. However, there was no definitive agreement and the dialogue process will continue this December 15.

Maduro insists there is no humanitarian crisis. Only US propaganda. No food or medicine needed. "¡Vamos a bailar!"

Delcy Rodriguez (head of the all Chavista ANC) says there is only a "lack of willpower". Hardship is a part of life. No crisis. "¡Viva la revolución!"
