For 2?½ years, the married mother of two small children said she felt trapped in her own horror story.
The Honduras native went to work each day to clean toilets and make beds for $7.67 per hour, constantly in fear of being sexually assaulted by her boss: William Castro, general manager of the upscale Courtyard Marriott in the historic district of Coral Gables.
If I didnt do the things he told me to do, I would lose my job, said the 31-year-old housekeeper, identified only as Jane Doe No. 21. And if I didnt do the things he told me to do, hed call immigration. .?.?. I dont have papers.
On Wednesday, Aventura-based attorney Jeffrey Herman, who specializes in sexual abuse cases around the country, filed a lawsuit in Miami-Dade Circuit Court on behalf of Jane Doe No. 21 against Downtown Coral Gables Hotel Ltd. (owner of the Coral Gables hotel), Marriott International and Lupita Clean Services Corp., for which Jane Doe No. 21 directly worked. The lawsuit seeks damages in excess of $5 million.
