Approval rating of Peru's Kuczynski drops 8 points after scandal

Approval rating of Peru's Kuczynski drops 8 points after scandal
Sun Oct 16, 2016 | 11:00am EDT

Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski's approval rating dropped 8 percentage points to 55 percent after a corruption scandal forced him to fire his health adviser, an Ipsos poll published in a newspaper showed on Sunday.

Kuczynski's popularity had risen to 63 percent through September after a razor-thin victory in June's run-off election against right-wing populist Keiko Fujimori.

But leaked audios that appear to reveal presidential health advisor Carlos Moreno plotting to "mine" the public health system for personal benefit may have ended Peru's honeymoon with Kuczynski, 78, a centrist former investment banker.

Only 39 percent in the poll, published in local daily El Comercio, said Kuczynski's government was committed to fighting corruption. But a majority of those familiar with the Moreno scandal said the government had responded appropriately.

who sent his military psychos out to murder indigenous Peruvians, and he also had the government round up and sterilize a huge number of indigenous female Peruvians in his triumph for genocide by severely limiting the number of the next generation of Inca people to be born in Peru.

The ruling class has maintained an iron fist choke hold on the country for ages, since the original invasion by the Spanish, with total US support.

Desperately dire straights. The racism is profound, as it is in throughout ALL the Americas, every damned country. They weren't able to slaughter as large a percent of their native citizens who were there originally as was the United States, who, which made relatively short work of millions of human lives right away. More weapons, more people damned happy to kill the indigenous, the US wiped native citizens out from shore to shore, then wrote songs like "This land is your land, this land is MY land." Uh, huh.
