Policemen Linked to Corruption in Panamanian Prisons Arrested
Panama, Aug 12 (Prensa Latina) Panama''s Security Minister Alexis Bethancourt, confirmed today the arrest of two officers of the National Police for being alleged members of the dismantled criminal network linked to acts of corruption in Panamanian prisons.
Speaking to the press, Bethancourt highlighted the active participation of these officers in the ban, which was dedicated to change criminal sentences, falsify ballots freedom and con prisoners' families.
He revealed that investigations began in December 2015, through a multidisciplinary intelligence team from Anti-corruption Inter-agency Group.
According to preliminary information, parolees and transfer to other prisons with a less severe prison regime were offered to inmates by members of the band in return for payment of $5,000 USD up to $ 70,000 USD.
