Group alleges Walmart selling dolphin unsafe tuna in Latin America

Group alleges Walmart selling dolphin unsafe tuna in Latin America
November 9, 2015, 4:36 pm

The advocacy group Dolphin Safe has begun a campaign asking Walmart to stop selling canned tuna it asserts were caught using methods that kill or harm dolphins.

The group alleges that Walmart stores in Mexico, Costa Rica and other unnamed Latin American countries are selling tuna using methods that are not "dolphin safe" despite pledges not to sell those products in the US.

The group, which has started a consumer petition aimed at quashing the practice, alleges that Walmart's Dolores and TUNY tuna brands are produced using methods unsafe for dolphins.
