Ub40 singer Ali Campbell has come under fire from a veteran of the 1982 Falklands War after declaring the disputed British territory should be placed under Argentine sovereignty.
The Red Red Wine singer called the Falklands Islands’ status as a British Overseas Territory “ridiculous” during an interview with Argentine newspaper the Clarin ahead of his band’s concert in the Argentine city of Cordoba on Tuesday.
The islands, which lie around 300 miles (483 kilometers) east of the South American country, have been the subject of a dispute between Britain and Argentina over their sovereignty since the 19th Century.
The dispute escalated into a war in 1982 when Argentine forces invaded the islands, but they were driven back by a British military task force which recaptured the territory.
“It’s ridiculous that we continue laying claim to the Falklands when they’re so far away from England,” Campbell told the newspaper, “It makes no sense and the majority of the people in my country think this is ridiculous.

First, I doubt that and second a better question would be "What do the majority of Falkland Islanders want?" .....which they have already established:
On a turnout of 91.94%, an overwhelming 99.8% voted to remain a British territory, with only three votes against.
