Santos to meet with Obama next week

.Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos will meet with his U.S. counterpart Barack Oabama next week to discuss security, counternarcotics operations and the economy, local media reported Wednesday.

The country's foreign minister and representatives from Colombian finance, mining, and energy offices will attend the talk, as will about 60 U.S. officials. Their meeting follows April's Summit of the Americas, and more recent discussions between the two countries' defense ministers about security.

Following a severe cut in military aid to Colombia, U.S. ambassador to Bogota, Michael McKinley, said U.S.-Colombian cooperation has become more equal, as Colombia now brings its military intelligence and an ability to provide support to U.S. energy miners working in Colombia.
