The Panama Unit: A U.S Border Unit That Became A Drug Trafficking Organization

It’s well known that the Mexican government is struggling to combat the drug cartels that have taken over their country. The weak institutions that plague Mexico are the main reason why corruption runs so rampant.

Why would a police officer remain honest and loyal for abysmal wages when they could be making millions at the drop of a hat? All they have to do is turn a blind eye, hand over the power to the drug kingpins, and then not persecute them for their criminal activities.

Don’t be fooled; corruption doesn’t end once you cross the Rio Grande border. As the infamous Drug War has raged on the last couple of decades, U.S. citizens have also been caught in the moral crossfire. Many police officers in Southern Texas have turned over to the dark side, too, and worked in cahoots with Mexico’s most dangerous drug lords in exchange for money, drugs, and power.

As of now (and there’s probably more illicit activities going on as you read this), here are the most controversial things U.S. police officers have gotten themselves into along the nation’s southern border:
