It is estimated that those involved in the former government stole over $6 billion from public funds.

The Peruvian Anti-Corruption Prosecuting Agency announced on Monday that three siblings, a niece, and one brother-in-law of former President Alberto Fujimori are among the 100 people Peru has placed on the list for international arrest warrants.

The government agency put the relatives of Fujimori, along with several officers of his former government, under its “international red alert” ranking, which prioritizes locating and capturing those on the list.

Over 20 people linked to the former head of state are still being sought internationally for crimes such as embezzlement. It is estimated that those involved in the Fujimori government stole over $6 billion from public funds.

Former Head of State Alberto Fujimori Fujimori is currently serving a prison sentence for corruption and crimes against humanity. Since Peruvian law stipulates that prison sentences are not cumulative and can be served at the same time, Fujimori will serve for only 25 years in prison for the several crimes committed while he was in power between 1990 and 2000.
