Chilean Public School Students Will Receive Free Laptops

Chilean Public School Students Will Receive Free Laptops
July 23 13:21 2015

The government has established an educational initiative that starts with students who are in seventh grade.

CHILE — “I Connect to Learn” is a program with the goal of improving the quality of education students are receiving in public school by giving them laptops, wireless broadband and digital educational resources for a year.

According to the Chilean government website, these are the requirements for students to be eligible for the program:
◾Be enrolled in seventh grade in a public school
◾Be a student of a public establishment
◾Cannot have been a recipient of the “I Choose My PC” program between 2013 and 2015

Students who are eligible for the program will be able to choose which color they want their computer to be—yellow, green, blue or pink. If students are unable to choose a color, they will be assigned one.

(Fantastic, positive, productive way to underwrite the children's education. What a great step forward.)
