Cuban 5: The True Story

Cuban 5: The True Story
The Cuban Five were wrongly imprisoned in the United
States in 1998 on espionage charges. The five Cuban
nationals had been monitoring Miami-based terrorist
groups plotting to attack Cuba.

The five Cubans unjustly jailed for years in the United States have given an emotional interview to Telesur on the circumstances surrounding their arrest, and the series of events that led to their release. The Cuban Five were sentenced to maximum prison terms on allegations of espionage. Gerardo Hernandez received a double life sentence and Antonio Guerrero and Ramon Labañino received life sentences. The remaining two, Fernando Gonzalez and René Gonzalez, received 19 and 15 years respectively. Since December 2014 all have been free. In their teleSUR interview they sit in a semicircle, their eyes emit a contentment, belying the treatment of incarceration that followed their arrest on charges of espionage and terrorism, back in 1998.

2. What a shame these men can never get those years back. They have aged during their imprisonment.

They have been through hell. They have real respect for each other, that was so clear.

It was moving seeing, during the first time Ramón Labañino spoke at length, a tear formed in the corner of his right eye.

They are good, good men, far different from the actual Cuban terrorists in Miami. Light years ahead in quality as human beings.

I did not know that René González had brought his family to Florida. It was touching learning his daughter called out to him, "Papi," and that was courageous for the kid, in that courtroom. He must have been sickened knowing he was missing her childhood.

Last, it all seemed so long ago when they took their information to the FBI, to seek their help, and were ignored, then suddenly the FBI showed up and arrested them for spying, I hadn't realized Hugo Chavez hadn't even been elected when they were imprisoned. They learned about it after they had been taken away.

Thank you for this video. So glad they're out, so sorry it ever happened to them.

There's a big Karmic debt waiting for some cretins in Miami.
