Pepe Mujica fears a coup could take place in Venezuela soon... from the left

TRANSLATION:

In a preview of an extensive conversation that President José Mujica hadwith El País in which he talked about all the topics of his government and the future, the president said his main fear about the political crisis facing Venezuela is to occur a "military coup from left".

This week, as a result of escalating violence in Venezuela, a student of 14 years was killed during a protest against the government of President Nicolas Maduro, who arrested several opposition leaders, including the mayor of Caracas, Antonio Ledezma.

In this context, the Frente Amplio and Pit-Cnt agreed Maduro support and condemn the "destabilizing efforts" of which he is the victim the Chavez regime. Anyway, in the left coalition there are voices that are questioning the Venezuelan president.

For Mujica, today "there are smart ways to destabilize a government" and "is much easier to incur a government in stupidities and make it go". But said: "It does not mean that's what happening in Venezuela. I do not know what is happening in Venezuela. But they DO have a shortage crisis and a lot of dissatisfaction from the people, of that I have no doubt.".

On the Venezuelan opposition, Mujica made two distinctions. The sectors that align behind Henrique Capriles (presidential candidate of the opposition denounced irregularities in the elections), and "those who want a coup".

"Capriles seems to have a much more careful position in order to avoid violence," said Mujica. According to his understanding, this Venezuelan opposition leader and his entourage seek an "institutional solution" to the Venezuelan crisis through a call for elections.

Even Mujica seems to agree that a coup is more likely to come from Diosdado than anyone else. And apparently he doesn't have much faith in the Nincompoop's ability either.
