A huge shipment of cocaine from Panama to the United States was seized last week at the Port of Baltimore by Customs and Border Protection officials, the agency announced Tuesday.
Nearly 128 pounds of powder cocaine, with a street value of $4 million, was found hidden inside two gym bags in a shipment of commercial car parts from Colón. Its the largest bust at the port since 2007, when 310 pounds of cocaine were found in a refrigerated container shipped from Ecuador. In the past two years combined, less than 25 pounds of cocaine have been found at the port.
The 100 bricks of cocaine were discovered during a routine inspection, using imaging technology.
Tis the season for giving, but sometimes its better to just seize, the agency said in a statement.
