Havana named world's 'best destination'
3rd December 2013
The Cuban capital has been named the world's number one 'Destination on the Rise for 2013' based on the opinions of millions of travellers
Havana beat off stiff competition from La Fortuna de San Carlos in Costa Rica, Kathmandu in Nepal, and Jerusalem, to claim the top spot, in TripAdvisor's annual Travellers' Choice Awards announced earlier today. Meanwhile, the beach town of Corralejo in the Canary Islands was named as the Top Destination on the Rise in Europe, ahead of Portugal's second city, Porto, and Krakow, in Poland.
In total, the Destinations on the Rise awards highlight 54 spots around the world that have seen the greatest increase in positive traveller feedback and traveller interest over the course of the year.
The awards also include categories for the United States, won by Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, and South America, awarded to Cusco, Peru. Kathmandu in Nepal won the Destination on the Rise award for Asia, and Christchurch, New Zealand, came top in the South Pacific category.

(770 posts)You do realize the average Cuban wage is something like $40 a month. This means they aren't about to get treated very well because they lack cash to spend. The exceptions are the upper castes, the communist party senior officials, senior military and secret police officers. And Cubans who get cash from their relatives abroad. Cuba is a divided society, those who have, and those who have not.

It would be funny if creatures didn't still keep feverishly trying to shove them down the throats of human beings. Clearly some thwarted, incomplete creatures imagine people are so stupid they can't tell the difference.
That's sad.
