A former paramilitary was sentenced to 20 years behind bars for the deaths of two indigenous men in northern Colombia.

Julio Manuel Argumedo García, alias “Gabino,” has taken responsibility for the crime committed in July 2002.

“Gabino” unlawfully established a checkpoint in the village of Crespo and stopped a vehicle in which the two individuals were travelling.

The victims were taken to an off-site location and shot dead while Gabino threatened to return the following day to kill others, reports local media.
