Operation Miracle Eye Has Benefited More Than 109,000 Guatemalans
GUATEMALA, Oct 16 (BERNAMA-NNN-Prensa Latina) -- Cuban ophthalmologists have benefited about 109,742 Guatemalans since 2008 to date, the national coordinating committee of the Operation Miracle program, Rosa Lidia Torres, said.
Torres said that this included those operated on for cataract and pterygium, an abnormal growth of a tissue in the conjunctiva over the cornea, without other minor surgeries for eye diseases.
About 8,342 people have already been treated from January to September this year, in the four ophthalmologic centers located in the department of Guatemala, Jalapa, San Marcos, and Escuintla.
These results respond to the work team, which has enabled us to earn the Guatemalan people's respect, he said.
Not only Guatemalan President Otto Perez Molina, but also Foreign Minister Fernando Carrera, have publicly acknowledged the work done by the entire Cuban health staff. They have carried out more than 34 million consultations since 1998 in remote places of the national territory.

Congratulations to the Cuban medical specialists, working so successfully
all over the world, and ignored, of course, by right-wingers.
Hi, Mika!
