Watch the first trailer for the Spanish-language remake of Breaking Bad

Univision will soon be broadcasting the adventures of Colombian chemistry teacher/meth manufacturer Walter Blanco

If you're suffering from Breaking Bad withdrawal, you'll soon be able to watch the whole series over again — in Spanish. The upcoming Metastasis, which will air on Univision in the United States, is a Spanish language remake of Breaking Bad, set in Colombia, that will retell the AMC drama's narrative from the perspective of a chemistry teacher turned meth manufacturer named Walter Blanco.

"One of the most riveting series of all time finds a new voice in Metastasis," says a voiceover artist in the first trailer for the show. "A fascinating retelling that will capture Hispanic audiences like never before. The enduring characters. The gripping storytelling. The fact that everybody has a tipping point."

All signs indicate that Metastasis will be hewing very, very closely to Breaking Bad's original narrative. There are a number of blink-and-you'll-miss it moments in this trailer that faithfully repeat famous shots from Breaking Bad, from Walter's time in the hospital to his near-naked drive through the desert. But there are a few key deviations: The iconic RV from Breaking Bad has been replaced by an "old, barely drivable school bus" because "motor homes are not popular in Colombia." See? It's a totally different show!

3. Believe it is. Univision, which has studios in California and Florida is making it,

should be shown on the US Univision network, and it undoubtedly will show in Latin American countries.'

One of the owners of Univision is Gustavo Cisneros, mega wealthy media owner, etc., Cuban Venezuelan, and good fishing buddy of George H. W. Bush.

2. Spanish filmwork is usually pretty good.

The opposite where Hollywood remakes European stuff are usually conplete pants.

4. Yyyyyyeppppp! Goddawful. They "translate" so idiots can enjoy them.

You know, the ones who sit right behind you, chew popcorn with their mouths open so not only do you hear them, you smell the mashed up popcorn as its being gummed. They are the ones who have to describe everything, as well, as if no one can see the screen.

We have a lot of these critters.

5. The way they fucked up The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is a good example

closely followed of course by The Killing. They have an odd habit of removing the flavour.

The should stick to stuff of their own like 24 hours and Homeland but even Homeland was a based on Gideon Raff's Israeli series Hatufim.

6. Oh, no, 24 hours, yikes. Dim witted, stupid, embarrassing. Horrified to think you saw it!

They started it off during George W. Bush vs. the world, and went right in to build a case in support of torture. They sure "loved them some torture," didn't they? So stupid and underhanded. We always knew where we could go for a weekly dose of torture desensitization.

I'm sure a lot of people watched it for laughs. At the same time, what a horror knowing it has been exported.

Didn't know Homeland was taken from another series. Figures. Interesting.

"Removing the flavor" works, by all means. Glad to hear you say it.

It's unnerving to know that you, in England, have learned behind the stupid façade, there's an even more stupid reality in our popular culture! Yikes! A lot of people have simply given up on it altogether. What a travesty.

We repeatedly ask ourselves regarding films, tv shows, etc.: "Where is the writing, anyway?" They aren't even trying to attract any kind of intelligent people any longer. Doesn't matter, apparently. Too much money to be made without the effort.
