Ecuador’s president to boycott Americas summit over Cuba’s exclusion

Ecuador’s president to boycott Americas summit over Cuba’s exclusion
By Associated Press, Updated: Monday, April 2, 9:47 PM

QUITO, Ecuador — Ecuador’s President Rafael Correa says he’s decided to boycott this month’s Summit of the Americas in Colombia because Cuba is not invited.

Correa made the announcement in a letter he sent Monday to the host president, Juan Manuel Santos.

He took a swipe at the United States, which had rejected Cuban attendance.

Correa called that veto intolerable, the United States “hegemonic” and the U.S. blockade of Cuba “inhumane.”
