Venezuela's domestic debt soars 97.5% in three years

Although the Venezuelan oil basket price has been above the USD 100 ceiling, Venezuela's debt has continued growing.

Based on information from the Finance Ministry, the government has focused on issuing bonds in the domestic market, thus increasing obligations by 97.5% in three years.

At the end of March 2010, the domestic debt accounted for USD 24.6 billion whereas in March 2013 it stood at USD 48.6 billion.
