Youth shoves new Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro during his inaugural speech

VENEZUELA'S new President Nicolas Maduro was roughly pushed aside by a youth in a red shirt who ran on stage during his inaugural address.

The young man jumped on stage at the National Assembly and grabbed the microphone from Maduro.

The incident caused momentary confusion as national television coverage of the event briefly went off the air, returning after Maduro had regained his composure and the youth had been moved off stage.

"Incident overcome," said Maduro, saying he would speak to the man after the address and then continuing with his speech.

As Maduro addressed the crowd inside the National Assembly building, a spectator rushed the stage and pushed him away from the microphone, startling millions watching on national television with a shout that sounded like "Nicolas, my name is Jenry!" before the intruder was tackled and dragged away.

The broadcast cut away, then returned to the lectern and Maduro, who continued his speech.

"He could have shot me here," Maduro said, dressing down his security detail before continuing with his address.

A video grab

As he began to speak, a man clad in red-the color of Venezuela’s socialist revolution-rushed the podium and snatched the microphone from him, yelling out his name and asking for help.

http://blogs.wsj.com/moneybeat/2013/04/19/at-inauguration-venezuelas-maduro-off-to-a-tough-start/

But Mr Maduro was interrupted by a man who ran on stage and grabbed his microphone.

The incoming president responded by criticising his security.

"I could have been shot here," he told the audience.

Then as he regained his composure he added: "Incident overcome. I will try to speak to this man later."

The motives of the man, who wore a red jacket - the colour favoured by "Chavistas" - and only managed to say his name before being hustled away, were not immediately clear.

Right. "We need an international intervention. " "We're being repressed" " I had to sell my second condo" "We don't want them coming into our neighborhoods" "Israel and America come save us"

Maduro was a bus driver idiot yes man. And a shitty speaker who says crazy talk half the time.

Maduro couldn't quote something written on the back of his hand.

Still you persist in making dishonest and juvenile responses every chance you get. Though I suppose for you a is pretty erudite.

I do not respect you Joshcryer because you distort things, you fight against the Left while parading around as a Left Anarchist, oh wait, that was last year, this year you're suddenly a strange animal you call a Libertarian Socialist, with the emphasis being on Libertarian I'm sure.

For years you've denigrated, insulted, lied about Chavez and other Leftists in this forum. Now that Chavez has died and you need to beat on Maduro, you expect everyone to forget your years of vile posts and believe your latest invention that you "admired Chavez".

"Bus driver idiot yes man" is just the kind of elitist, arrogant attitude the people you've supported for years have against the common people of Venezuela. It comes as no surprise that you openly said that without even realizing how it further defines you in a derogatory manner.

As to the rest of your bullshit, it's just that, more bullshit. The "shitty speaker who says crazy talk half the time" is actually an excellent description of most of your posts.

Now. I am going to put you back on ignore with a clear, direct request that you stop following me around with your particular brand of juvenile posts and putrid vomit. Why you insist on continuously talking with someone who's made it quite clear that they have you on ignore, how much they loathe you and why, is beyond me.

To make it very clear, you're one of the very few on DU that I really loathe so try to respect yourself and quit responding to me.

This post is on record for any future bullshit.

48. I challenge anyone to find "years" of posts of me insulting Chavez.
Sat Apr 20, 2013, 02:36 AM
Apr 2013

I may have made one or two snide remarks but I have not "for years" "denigrated, insulted, lied about Chavez." Like many supporters of the authoritarian left the truth is simply not capable of being realized. If some criticism is made they will denigrate you from the get-go, they will trash you, they will fill your screens with their swill, patting each other on the back in the process, in a bullying, vile, despicable way that only the authoritarian left can muster. Not using ignore you come to get a thick skin to this abuse.

I wish you would stop reading my posts and actually realize my ignore, but I suspect you are constantly seeing what I write here (the fact that you know I am a libertarian socialist indicates you've read many of my posts in this forum). I am not responding to you, I am responding untruths that you post. The ignorance of acting as if Chavez was influenced by Maduro. What a total joke of epic proportions, anyone can watch a Chavez speech and see how much of an articulate orator he was. Anyone can look at his citations in a speech and find that he quotes something word for word. This is an extremely remarkable talent.

BTW, just to underscore the ignorance more, "libertarian socialist" was used in the context of anarchist. All anarchists are libertarian socialists (but not all libertarian socialists are anarchists). But it doesn't surprise me you'd be ignorant of this. I mean, you thought Maduro influenced Chavez. That's just rich.

Anyway, I won't respond to you except for the more atrocious or idiotic things being posted. I haven't actually responded to you terribly much, but I refuse to not respond to an OP that you make, if that OP has content worthy of my discussion. Especially since you have taken it upon yourself to infuse the Latin American forum with propaganda.

Despite being called a right winger, despite lies being told on a fairly regular basis, despite propaganda and misinformation. Indeed, the implication is in your very post, but you don't outright say it as others have done here.

This is what I'm talking about when I talk about patting each other on the back. Who cares about actually analyzing the situation. Who cares about looking at the gray areas. Who cares about the facts. The people who disagree are wrong, right winger, fascists, CIA goons. And of course, revisionism of the highest order.

You claim you could find evidence easily to support your claims against critics, but you can't, because the claims are false. Like your typical Two Minutes hate, you must muster an Emmanuel Goldstein because in the end you don't have a truly substantive argument. It's all empty rhetoric.

They couldn't throw enough mud and crap at the man before he died, and now that he's gone, they spin around 180 degrees and start lying out their asses about their high regard for Chavez in order to keep (in their own "minds&quot from looking so predictable when they start raving about how much they hate the next President the Venezuelan people elected.

I appreciate your support and confirmation. It's unfortunate for some that between DU and google, all you have to do is plug in a name and a keyword to get a shitload of examples of what you said and I said. And many corrections from a slew of other posters.

I also know that all the articles I translated were a major inconvenience to their propaganda efforts that Capriles, from a rightwing party, backed by the Venezuelan and Business elite, the Oil Cartels and the banks, was any sort of a "progressive".

This forum would have been snowed with rightwing propaganda like those bullshit pictures of ballots being burned. You can see several example threads of that and they're all from the same few people.

I suggest they do what their rightwing candidate told them to do a few days ago- go bang on pots and pans lol.

I'm getting chills...

Right now its various units of military units running past, in formation, shouting "Chavez Vive! La Lucha Sigue!"

And before that, another unit ran past chanting " Anti-Capitalista, Anti-Imperialista"

Now they're shout chanting "Somos Socialistas" run-marching past .

The parade is in celebration of the 203rd anniversary of the First Uprising for Venezuela's independence.

Well done. The symbolism due to the coincidence of dates plays well.

Do you know if there is a transcript of the speech or a video with an English translation?
