Related: About this forumConatel Reminds Media It Has An Obligation To Report News, not revert to 2002 coup habits
Conatel reminds the media that they have an obligation to diffuse necessary information to citizens, "so that people can have a clear and objective concept and can make individual judgments."
11 years after the events of April 2002, the media "has returned to failing to report on the violence that was unleashed after Capriles made his call, on Monday, for his supporters to take to the streets," said Pedro Maldonado, CEO the National Telecommunications Commission (Conatel), in an interview with Radio Free Circuit.
He pointed at that the media have an obligation to generate the necessary information to citizens, "so that people can have a clear and objective and can make individual judgments of the ideas and concepts they need".
He expressed concern at the media's news blackout about the actions of destabilization and violence by anti-Chavez groups: "This record of violence is not good for the country, not good for anyone, not good for democracy."
He called on the media for reflection and understanding and to assume their constitutional and legal obligations since their commitment should be to the people: "The people who hear, who see, who hear and believe in them, hence its responsibility, to treat their audience with the respect it deserves, they deserve to have the information, know the truth and know what is happening. "

(160,530 posts)2. Furthermore, there is every assurance our own corporate media
will ALSO donate their own complete news blackout on what the Capridiots have done following the election. They will stand beside their treacherous, deceitful brothers and sisters of the whorish Venezuelan opposition media, known world wide for its deliberate deception, and betrayal of the people of its own country, the people the oligarchs intend to exploit, mock, and abuse any way they can, bar NOTHING.
