Remembering April 11 2002 - Uh Ah Chavez No Se Va

The song "Chavez no Se Va" (starts at 7:40) is sung by El Grupo Madera

Chavez no Se Va

"Ooh Ah Chavez no Se Va, Ooh Ah Chavez no Se Va"

These are the extremely catchy lyrics of a popular political song that was performed today at the pro-Chavez rally. The chant translates to, "Hey Ho, Chavez Won't Go!" This song is not just catchy, it is a powerful representation of the fight of the Venezuelans to form their own government without US intervention. Venezuelans have sung this song since Chavez became president in 1998 in the democratic election, which he won in a landslide. He called for a peaceful and democratic "Bolivarian Revolution" with his first step being the creation of a new constitution using the process of popular consensus. The US intervened and supported a coup that occurred April 11, 2002, when Chavez was kidnapped by opposition leaders. The masses said, "Ooh Ah Chavez no Se Va," and within 48 hours thousands of Venezuelans swarmed the streets of downtown Caracas and Chavez was returned to office. In 2004 the opposition to Chavez requested a referendum and again, Chavez won in a landslide that was certified by many international observers. Interestingly enough this was inspired by the California recall of Grey Davis, but the difference was Davis lost and Chavez won.

Chavez was officially elected in a democratic process and while the opposition is very small, the US support has the ability to inflate their power for the benefit of America's elite. This song currently represents the position of many Venezuelans against the extremely obvious US aggression towards Chavez and the Bolivarian Revolution. Chavez is leading a revolution that is anti-imperialist and the US sees this as a threat not to human rights, but to their bags of money. Venezuela is the world's fifth largest producer of oil and Chavez has transformed Venezuela's economy because of his utilization of oil for programs that support his citizens. With the military at a breaking point in Iraq, America does not have the resources to attack Venezuela, but there are other ways that America is currently supporting the opposition, such as through organizations and funding.

"Long live the Bolivarian Revolution!
Long live the people of the world!"

Damn it. Gotta post that song again as a spit in the eye to all those who would dare attempt to subvert true democracy in Venezuela and thwart the people's will to free themselves from interior and exterior oppression.

¡Uh! ¡Ah! ¡Chávez no se va! ¡Uhh! ¡Ahh! ¡Chávez no se va!

And stop trying to pretend that Capriles' party is anything other than a rightwing party.

Justice First
Primero Justicia

Justice First Movement (Movimiento Primero Justicia) is a centre-right political party in Venezuela. Founded in 1992 as a Civil Association, it became a political party in 2000.

There's a reason most people can grasp that the emtire US right wing and Bush clowns like Otto Reich support Capriles and his party. One must really wonder, at least I do, what people who support Bush's parties are doing here on a democratic board. Wonders never cease in the smaller forums.

Privatizing, raping the poor... You typically don't find many Democrats with those characteristics.

And as much as I hate to say that Maduro will still likely win, he will only because of one simple reason, which is that Chávez chose him as his successor, and that's the only thing that most chavistas really care about. They don't really care that he's a bigoted, incompetent, lying, uneducated fool, they only care that he was El Difunto Comandante's choice. Hell, Chávez could leave Barney the Dinosaur for his successor and hardcore chavistas would still vote for that choice.

6. Right and we should trust the opinion of the Chacao elite why again?

Oh that's right... that's where live the children of the elite that raked up millions of the backs of the poor so we should trust their every word to help them keep raping the poor. Sorry No. The people will vote in Maduro because they know what's best for them and the "bigoted, incompetent, lying, uneducated fool" Capriles will be forgotten by history as lower than beetle's dung.

Kind of sucks that the poor refuse to subsidize the playstations and european vacations of the rich parisites any longer doesn't it?

Some of those rich people need to roll up their sleeves and start "producing" for a living instead of lining their pockets with bullshit jobs like "capital ventures" and "investment banking".

Thank God Maduro will win.

Keep it up. Keep on insulting the intelligence of your compatriots to know what's best for them instead of endorsing your choice of bloodsuckers who wwant to reshackle them to slave away and subsidize "The Lifestyle of the Rich and the Parisitic".

7. The "rich and parasitic" are Maduro and the high-ranking government officials themselves

Or have you not noticed the kind of attire and accessories that they wear, or the kind of vehicles they use? When they actually start living like the Uruguayan president José Mujica, THEN I'll accept that they are true socialists.

Like I said, Maduro is only where he is now because of Chávez's blessing, nothing more. Take that away, and he's a nobody.

And I highly doubt that all the 6+ millions of people who voted for Capriles las October are rich people. Lemme show you an example of one of those you call "rich and parasitic":

8. Where did you get that socialists have to be poor?

No wonder you're so confused. As to your video, that's the same Fox News tactic of dragging out a few Blacks who vote for rightwing Republicans.

Maduro got where he is because of his hard work. You know full well how involved he's been in politics for many years and the things he accomplished. I won't deny that Chavez' blessing will help him but people aren't dumb, they know why Chavez blessed him and it's the reasons WHY that will propel him to victory so the people can continue to build socialism with their direct participation.

Rich and parasitic must have struck a personal nerve if you have to drag out a token poor person.

as well as grabbing the last one multiple times! So great to see them, and tremendous to see the genuine affection and respect the people have held for the people who finally made it to the Presidency, past all the parasites who had been bleeding their country dry for the benefit of a few racist dirtballs all this time until Chavez took office February, 1999.

Who can blame the people one tiny bit for loving that man and what he had accomplished in his time? The closest this country has come to him is FDR. who was also beloved and revered by the many, and despised by the oligarchy, of which he was a member, himself. We all know that after FDR died in office in his fourth term, the a-hole Republicans rushed to bar the door to ANY future Democratic Presidents, ever again, being re-elected more than once, even though the Founding Fathers of the country had not found it appropriate to impose term limits, a strictly Undemocratic method of electing the best leaders.

It will always be a joyous moment seeing the common celebration and communion of spirit between Chavez and the PEOPLE of his country recorded for posterity! So damned great to witness via video.

There is not one right-winger with the ability to be cleanly joyous, to be able to radiate positivity the way he could. What they've got now is a bunch of rat, pig, or turtle-faced people who look as if they're sucking lemons, with the natural grace of people suffering acute constipation. Rigid, empty, utterly phony, and ridiculous.

Worlds apart, and they'll never find their way to the human world, they can only awkwardly pretend
to identify with it.

"Uh-ah, Chavez no se va."

13. Wow. Perfect. Tears. Loving choices made with the images.

Whoever picked the photos for the video appeared to feel as close to Hugo Chavez emotionally as one would a beloved relative, moving through his stages of health, as well, as one would want to remember each moment with someone really cared for in one's personal life.

It's so easy to see now the man was struggling physically to get around part of his later life, but his feelings for the people were genuine, and they pulled him along, it's all right there on his face for the world to see.

This was also during the time right-wing filth were taking dirty pot-shots at his appearance, mocking him here on this board, having a great time insulting, smearing his appearance. What else would you expect of that element, anyway?

He was loved, he was appreciated, he was respected by the people who matter.

The singer of that song had genuine feeling, appreciation for the leader, too, it's all right there.

Thank you.
