Bernie, Bernie, Bernie. You had such a bright future ahead of you when you went back to the Senate. All you had to do was not do this. Halfway through this democratic primary race, you were the guy everyone on the left respected whether they were planning to vote for you or not. You were running a uniquely clean campaign of ideas, teaching us how campaigns should be run. And then somewhere along the way you just lost it. I don’t mean you lost your mind, Bernie. You lost your legacy. You just said tonight that Hillary Clinton is “not qualified” to be President. Which means you’re done in politics.

So now what, Bernie? Earlier in this election you were saying that Hillary would be an infinitely better President than any of the republican options. You led us to believe that if you couldn’t beat her fair and square in popular voting, you were going to get behind her and help us keep these current republican monstrosities out of the White House. It’s why we let our guard down and trusted you. It’s why we liked you. It’s the only reason most of us ever liked you, because you sure as hell don’t know what you’re talking about on the issues.

For fifteen years, Bernie, I’ve been watching you give speeches in congress. You’re usually on the right side of certain issues, and I love that you fight for those issues. You make them important. Here’s the problem: you don’t really understand the issues you’re advocating for. You have a simplistic instinctive sense that lands you on the correct side of them, but when you try to explain them, it’s like listening to a child. So we weren’t exactly keeping you around all these years because you were qualified to be there. We on the left were rooting for you in congress simply because you were on our team. And now you’re not anymore.
