(10,014 posts)The county convention results should reflect the precinct caucus results unless your supporters don't show up. That didn't happen.

(10,014 posts)Voters at the precinct caucuses elect delegates to the county convention who elect delegates to the district convention, etc. You can lose a few people from your side at the county convention but the percentage doesn't usually change much. I suspect the Bernie campaign thought there would be droves of delegates abandoning Hillary for Bernie once the Hillary delegates understood his awesomeness. Didn't happen.

The caucus system is the most disenfranchising system in America. If you work the night shift, can't get a babysitter, can't AFFORD a babysitter, don't have a ride, don't have an evening to spend standing in a corner hectoring people, you're EXCLUDED. The people who need a voice the most are often excluded from the process with a caucus system. It needs to just GO.

(135,425 posts)Clinton Maintains Iowa Delegate Win In County Conventions
Hillary Clintons campaign fought off a tough effort by Bernie Sanders operation in county conventions throughout the state to determine the next round of delegates that eventually end up at the national convention. At the end of the day, Clinton stood at 704 state delegates and Sanders had 700. Thats a slight improvement for both from caucus nights final results, when Clinton had 700.47 and Sanders received 696.92.
The big prize both campaigns sought was the 5th statewide delegate. In addition to assigning national delegates by congressional district, Iowa also has 9 statewide delegates. Because of Clintons narrow win on caucus night, those split in her favor 5-4. The closeness led to fierce competition around the state on Saturday as Sanders tried to pick up just a handful more state delegates here and there to move ahead.
Sanders was unsuccessful in that effort, and the projected national delegate count remained the same both on the statewide level and by congressional district. Clinton still has a 23-21 advantage from Iowa.
All that effort, all that whining....and for what? Clinton gained more than he did.
Well, all things in time....
Can't happen soon enough.
