When the Democratic nominee debates Trump

(I posted this in GD , too, but I gather a lot of the participants in this group avoid that place right now, and I'd like to get some opinions on this problem from the people here, as well.)

Whether it's Hillary or Bernie, the problem will be the same: Trump's habit of talking over everyone else. We've seen what he's done in the GOP debates and how it has undermined his opponents and made them look weak. It should make him look foolish, but apparently a lot of voters think he's great precisely because of his steamroller tactic.

Can the Democrats get the moderators to assert themselves? The moderators have let Trump take over in the GOP debates. He ignores the buzzer and the mods and just keeps talking. This can't be allowed to happen in the general election debates. But I don't want to see the Democratic nominee behave just as boorishly in order to make Trump shut up.

when it is a 1-on-1 debate. The Republican debates are grossly unstructured, since they have these weird rules where, if the person responding mentions you, you then get to talk. 1-on-1 general elections go into a question, response, rebuttal format that doesn't really allow you to talk over the other person. And if he keeps interrupting Hillary, it will look idiotic because people want to hear what the candidates say.

And still losing big, proving once again that they are marginal and that we Democrats will win and move forward without them.

Trump's nonsense appeals to a minority of Republicans.

Given these two extremist factions can Trump play the same way in the general election? I doubt it. I know that Trump will never have my support and I am almost always in the mainstream. I'm confident.

Trump will refuse to debate Hillary.

He can not possibly match her knowledge about real facts and government programs

His supporters won't care.

That was a great moment. He came and stood over her and she was just ramrod straight looking at him like he was an idiot.

It played.

Go on the attack immediately. Get him off balance and sputtering.

At the same time, I found myself really annoyed at the spineless moderators during the GOP debate, and I hope something can be done about them.

With Trump, I think she'll adopt Spider Robinson's review tactics. "Go for the jugular, tear out the throat, pee on the remains."

Get down, get dirty, get it over with.
