I'm woefully non up-to-date re social media. I don't have a smart phone. I almost never post on Facebook, and visit every couple of months. But I have developed an image of how Bernie's supporters make their donations. Could this be reality? They have an app on their phones that lets them donate 1 or 5 dollars with a single swipe. So they do it in response to small cues, or large ones, like Bernie inviting them to at a debate. The amount is so small that they don't realize how many times they've done it til the MasterCard bill comes at the end of the month. It's analagous to swiping their phone at Starbucks.
Might this be happening?

P.S. This is why I break my donations into smaller pieces, even though it's a pain.

Sometimes I'll donate $5 instead of getting a latte. I also have a monthly donation.

He has a "drinking game" style app (no, I didn't come up with that)...http://www.buzzfeed.com/evanmcsan/sanders-launches-drinking-game-style-texting-donation-system#.gi8nLjo3E
The FEC's big problem isn't the kajillion $10 and $20 donations that add up to more than $2700, it's the 900 known donors that gave single contributions larger than $2700. Campaigns are supposed to have a mechanism - even if it's just a person sitting there mailing back checks that are too big - to reject outsized contributions, and Sanders doesn't appear to have one.

(13,783 posts)I get the impression from your post that the Clinton campaign does not do this. Is that the case? If so, how come?

(50,561 posts)...which is a central clearinghouse for Democratic donations. ActBlue was designed from the start not to allow you to exceed your limits to one candidate...you must establish an ActBlue account, and it tracks how much money you donate and how you spread it around.
The issue here isn't what Hillary - who, contrary to what Bernie's people would have you believe, is running a clean campaign - is doing...it's what Bernie, whose supporters will all tell you is gooder than good, is doing.
