Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumMessage from a Sanders supporter
Dear Hillary supporters,
I've seen some idiotic comments posted by several Sanders supporters on DU. Please don't assume that they speak for all Sanders supporters.
While I support Sanders, I respect Hillary Clinton. If she wins the nomination, I will vote for her in the general election.
DU has devolved into a very depressing place. We should be celebrating the fact that our two candidates are orders of magnitude better that anything the Republicans have in their pathetic lineup.

(15,951 posts)who will support Hillary if she is the Dem nominee and likewise if Bernie is the nominee on our side.

(80 posts)Then suggesting how we all should act, " We should be..."
I can only speak for myself when I say that I rather read hyperbolic bile in favor of someone's favorite candidate than be told what a group should do by someone who tries to appear to speak in the name of reason.
I don't disagree with your first point on the vitriol here...but offering a game plan for everyone to follow... thanks, no thanks.

(168 posts)If I wanted a New Democrat corporatism, I would vote for a Republican! Hillary says she is "currently" against TPP but the Chamber of Commerce has told it's members not to worry because after the election she will find a way to be "currently" in favor of it.
Not only does she have very high negatives, but she is off the chart on trust. Has she ever talked about how she helped labor when she was on the Board of Directors of Walmart's? No. Because she was a passive member when it came to Walmart's labor union busting efforts and now she wants us to believe she is "pro" labor. Some one who was at the speeches she gave to Goldman-Sachs says her presentation sounded like she was a member of the Board of Directors.
What are you going to do when they investigate some of her decisions as Secretary of State such as the UBS deal. She intervened "to help it out with the IRS" and then the bank joined the Clinton Foundation and also paid Bill speaking fees.
And don't give me this stuff about saving the Supreme court. If she makes an appointment to the Supreme Court it will be a person favored by her financial benefactors which will be neutral at best for labor and definitely pro corporation. Follow the money folks!
Also her form of not having a world view compared to Bernie means she settles for the scraps the Republicans give her and she calls it a victory because we "got something". Sorry but no thanks!

(1,606 posts)I'm feelin' the Bern big time here in Iowa. Was precinct captain, all of that. So I get you and I'm where you are.
We will fight the good fight, but in the end if we are on the short end of victory I will without reservation support Hillary.
While she may be an imperfect candidate in my idealistic view, I recall the words of our president: We must not let the perfect be the enemy of the good.
Hillary deserves my vote because, on balance, and relatively speaking, she is on the side on good. And the stakes between good and evil are much to great to sit this one out on the basis of selfish idealization.
But I get you. Give it some thought. It's okay to sacrifice a bit of one's idealism for the sake of some progress perhaps lesser gained, because what may be lost is incomprehensible.
I respect your stalwart idealism, but as a Bernie supporter I ask that you please make room for reason if Hillary is our nominee. And if so, let's continue to fight for our ideals. Our fight will be received by much more sympathetic ears than might be the case if we sat out.
Vote Democrat.

(1,545 posts)The important thing is making real change that improves the lives of people. If someone can not put that goal above protecting their own self image as righteous champions of their cause, that is not standing on principle, that is succumbing to narcissism.

(92,408 posts)what an amazing post you made regarding "saving the Supreme court". Yup, you sure made your case rock solid with that one.
Everyone here knows how Ruth Bader Ginsberg has been fawning all over those corporations "as people"
In fact, looking at the appointments of Supreme Court justices by Democrats verses republicans absolutely convience me of your logic.
Those Democratic SC justice appointments are just another scalia, thomas, and alito clones.
Really, thanks for setting me straight on that one.
I was this close to supporting the Democratic nominee in the general election, whoever it was, but thank goodness that you have come to the rescue, and reminded me that we should be grouping Hillary in the same category as Trump, Cruz, and Rubio.
yup, if Hillary wins the nominations we should all take our marbles and go home. That will show em.........

(8,333 posts)Look, I am not her biggest fan. But I am willing to recognize that she has had to operate in a very complex environment, and that it's impossible to really understand where she's coming from news sound bites, or even from what the media calls "debates."
So I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.

(23,753 posts)If you cannot support the party nominee, regardless who that might be, then you should not be here. While we may have disagreements over policies and issues, our goal is to retain the White House and improve our standing in the Congress.

(15,373 posts)Most of us realize that most SBS supporters everywhere, while very enthusiastic in their support of their candidate as we are in ours, share our concerns that - whatever may happen in the primaries - it is the GOP that we need to defeat in the GE.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by.

(2,550 posts)There is so much name calling and vitriol that I've just been reading instead of posting. If I post anything pro Hillary, I'll have 300 responses that make me want to not check the thread.
This isn't a reflection on Bernie, but god...it makes me not like the Bernie Supporters.
I could/would vote for him but I just think Hillary is the right voice for America in our current climate.

(8,333 posts)I don't post much either, for the same reason. But I kinda lost it today when I saw the Dolores Hureta posts.
So much ill will is being churned up. It's as if some people get their jollies from antagonizing the other side. And it becomes a chain reaction.
Maybe I'm being oversensitive, but this stuff upset me.

(12,448 posts)I realize there are good, thoughtful Sanders supporters; I've seen them and talked with some of them. Unfortunately, on DU they're being outshouted by the bullies. I still think a lot of them are Freeper trolls who don't support Sanders at all. They just want to make trouble, because that's what they do.
Thanks again for a positive post!
