Hillary Clinton

Well, she surprised me once again.
She used her victory speech to begin taking over the heart of Bernie's message. Notice she talked about Wall Street, student debt, etc. Things that Bernie talks about in his stump speech. It's not that Hillary hasn't talked about them, but that she is now deftly adopting some of Bernie's language when speaking about it. But she puts a postive twist on it by saying if the crooks play by the rules and are fair to the American people, they will benefit legitimately along with the rest of us.
It's a very smart move, because - coupled with her direct appeal tonight to young people - she is laying the groundwork for those Bernie supporters to come over to her once she wins the nomination.
Bernie? Well, he did his usual "Wall Street bad" routine. No surprise there. But he made a mistake by asserting that he still has the momentum on his side when the talk on every news channel is that the momentum has shifted to Hillary. His obviously false assertion plays into the growing narrative that he is living in a fantasy world of his own creation. And saying he was off to SC to win a state where he will lose much worse than he did today only adds to the lack of realism flowing from the candidate himself.

(90,816 posts)Now Jeb? is giving his dropping out speech. Columba is weepy. So is he.
But over the past 45 minutes all the word we've had on Hillary and Bernie is the little boxes at the bottom of the screen stating their percentages (which shift) and that Hillary is the winner.
But the chatter is: Trump.
So thanks for letting us know what HRC said, and your pov. I expected from the outset that Bernie's candidacy would push Hillary more publicly to the Left. Those of us who have followed her career with friendly interest know she is a Liberal, votes like one, is an activist. But 25 or 30 years of GOP smears have taken their toll, and I find her publicly cautious.
I know that Bernie's supporters here have tons of angst over HRC co-opting his message , but since that is what I and others were hoping she would do, and since it as honest a political strategy as any, I can only shrug.
Anyway, love your report.

(213 posts)And is it just me, or do ya' think Hillary has listened to a few Black preachers in her time ? I love her treatment of repetition, i.e. "Imagine a child....., imagine a grandparent..., imagine... " I was masterful!!
I am so psyched!
Remember she was "Sister Hillary" at Clementa Pickney's funeral.

(213 posts)Thanks for reminding me. All I know is when I see Rev. Otis Moss, Jr. endorsing her, I know she is doing something right!
