Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumAre you watching Bernie on MSNBS?
He is losing his cool. Not very presidential. He said he will not attack but will respond to attack. In the same breath he insinuated in a accusatory way that Hilary was "buying the election." I also noticed when the policy questions starting getting harder he repeated the same, " Free healthcare and education for all Americans."

(10,175 posts)The campaign is wearing him down both physically and mentally. The mask is beginning to slip and the humorless, self-righteous scold comes through more and more.

(15,373 posts)ANYONE as POTUS after Prez O. He has certainly done the office proud.
After W, our standing everywhere in the world was so abysmal, I really was not hopeful that we would ever regain our credibility. But Prez O managed that, in part by his very presence, but also with the able assistance of SoS Hillary Clinton - and also SoS Kerry. Domestically, he managed major accomplishments in spite of an obdurate, obstinate and constantly obstructionist Republican opposition.
Like you, I just cannot see Bernie as Presidential caliber. Certainly NOT after Prez O. But I can see Hillary rising to that level and putting her own unique stamp on the office in a way that will at least attempt to make the world a better place for us all.

It's incredible how didactic his delivery is. Like we're stupid and we just need to hear him pronounce a series of magic words.
I wish I could get everyone to agree with me by just repeating my fondest wishes with no obligation to provide an actual plan for how it's going to happen.

(90,793 posts)He yells at people, he wags his finger at them. He KNOWS what's right by God and don't you tell him otherwise! And always being right, he really can't stand to be told he's wrong or that there might be another way of looking at things.
Like Trump, Sanders speaks to people's anger, and there is a lot of anger out there. I get that. Trump, being a showman and not a politician, is all over the place with the hot buttons, and they are simple to grasp. Bernie, being a politician and also by nature a preacher, has THE answer, the ONE answer, and it's simple to grasp.
The trouble with Bernie is that single lens is not the only way of looking at the world. My Bernie-lovin' husband and I talked about this the other night. The economic theory that starts with Marx* simply does not cover every concern. (Nor does any rigid economic theory, but that's another story.) Women as a group have needs different from men; African Americans as a group have a different history from white Americans; and the list goes on. There is no one single answer.
People are not all one thing, in reality. And human-nature reality does not cooperate with ideology over the long haul, as ideologically-based revolutions, rigid religions, and utopian communities have proven over and over again.
*Marx: This is not a slur -- my husband has read Marx.

(10,839 posts)Yes, Saint Bernard's campaign is beginning to crackle on the surface. The man does not take criticism well and his thin-skinned reaction is showing. I agree that there is some similarity between the dispositions of Trump to Sanders. Both are channeling anger in the population. Which is real and has been brewing for the last 15, if not 30 years. Both make promises without specifics and resort to shorthand memes. On close examination, things begin to fall apart and what is promised is more akin to Kingship than the reality of presidential power.
I read a lawyerly quote yesterday, something to the effect: if you have the facts on your side, pound the facts. If you have the law on your side, pound the law. If you have neither, pound the table.
Pounding the table is what Sanders and Trump do. It's entertaining, some say inspiring. But in the end, the theatrics are empty and hollow, ultimately disappointing.
I like Sanders and I think income inequality is an important issue. But it's not the only issue and does not address every challenge that 2016 America or the future is facing. It's time to put away childish things.
