Lewis makes it public, just in case an "endorsement" suddenly surfaces.

Wasn't Hillary a registered Republican until 1968, worked for Goldwater in 1964, gave a commencement speech from Wellesley in 1969 where she criticized Senator Ed Brooks?

She graduated from high school in 1964. So in the summer of 1963, before her senior year of high school she attended the March on Washington and met John Lewis? Why have I not heard of this before? White, Republican high school girl from Illinois goes to the March on Washington - meets John Lewis - sounds like a photo op.

....you had to be 21 years old to vote at all, and she had just turned 21, as I had.

So "until 1968" she had NO opportunity to be a registered anything. In the previous Presidential election cycle, SHE WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL. When she went to college her view expanded considerably, she became a Democrat, and has been a Democrat ever since.

Bernie, otoh, felt nauseated at JFK's speeches (there is an old newspaper article posted elsewhere here), was disgusted by the Democratic Party, and while he caucused with the Dems in the Senate, refused to be anything other than a gadfly to the Party until about 15 minutes ago.

From the article:

When a reporter asked Lewis to comment on Sanders' involvement in the movement—Sanders as a college student at the University of Chicago was active in civil rights work—the congressman brusquely interrupted him. "Well, to be very frank, I'm going to cut you off, but I never saw him, I never met him," Lewis said. "I'm a chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee for three years, from 1963 to 1966. I was involved in the sit-ins, the freedom rides, the March on Washington, the march from Selma to Montgomery, and directed their voter education project for six years. But I met Hillary Clinton. I met President Clinton."

He knows damn well the code words & pandering & lies of those who defend the racist haters & frauds & he will defend AA rights til his last dying breath.
This great hero has seen & heard it all & knows where such hate speak got its origins.

They show who they truly represent when they go after him.
They expose themselves before us all.

A quick as a flash trip to South Carolina with his usual stump speech lines and his shaming followers ought to be enough to convince African Americans there that he knows what will serve them best (sarcasm...well, sort of!)

WASHINGTON — Defending Hillary Clinton Thursday, Rep. John Lewis downplayed Bernie Sanders’ history as a participant in the civil rights movement, saying he never saw or met Bernie Sanders.

Lewis was among the members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) who appeared at the Democratic National Committee Thursday, where the CBC’s political action committee formally announced their endorsement of Clinton in the Democratic primary.

A reporter, noting Sanders’ involvement with the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee in the 1960s, asked Lewis, about Sanders’ record in the civil rights movement.

Sanders has made his history as a participant in the March on Washington and as a student organizer in SNCC a part of his campaign.
