Jay Carney: Obama supports Hillary Clinton

Jay's a previous WH press secretary.

"I don't think there is any doubt that he wants Hillary to win the nomination and believes that she would be the best candidate in the fall and the most effective as president in carrying forward what he's achieved," said Carney, a CNN contributor.

Carney said Obama won't make an official endorsement until the race is decided, but his intentions are clear.

"I think the President has signaled, while still remaining neutral, that he supports Secretary Clinton's candidacy and would prefer to see her as the nominee," Carney said. "He won't officially embrace her unless and until it's clear that she's going to be the nominee. I think he is maintaining that tradition of not intervening in a party primary."

Traditionally, presidents don't make primary endorsements.

It's not like it matters the political blowback. Near as I can figure every other candidate in the race, and I mean everyone, and their supporters, hates him.

With much respect, that's like letting the jury system process work itself out on DU.

How's that working?

No. Time for stronger action. Now.

We had our quarterly business meeting today for our office. We are projecting out 6 months and plan accordingly.

Proactive not reactive.

We can't let things happen. We make them happen

Too much at stake

but I'm really glad that Jay said this.. whether he had Prez O's permission or not.

It's true. Why would he want someone who wanted him Primared in 2012 or endorsed Bill Press' stupid book? Or has dissed him for 7 years and on the campaign trail.

Besides he appreciates and respects Hillary. He knows what she's capable of.

Really nice to see you in Hill's Group, bravenak!

the right thing IMO just staying out of it up until now and not endorsing anyone. With that said, I also wouldn't blame him if he ends up endorsing HC. She has proven more to have his back during pressing times, and she undoubtedly has a stellar resume between serving as SOS and as a NY Senator.
