Why I don't think that Hillary will lose the youth vote if she is the nominee

I was watching CBS This Morning and they were going on and on about Bernie's NH victory and again how he won the under 29's overwhelmingly and also women under 40.

I believe that young people who are truly idealistic (and it is good) are pro-Bernie, but not necessarily anti-Hillary. I believe this will be particularly true of young women. Hillary has a long record of support for women's issues and is a role model to many women--young and older.

If she is the nominee and we have somebody like Trump or Cruz running against her--I just don't see lots of young people supporting them given how they stand on issues that are important to most under 30's. Younger people are more accepting of diversity and certainly more accepting than most if not all of the GOP field.

Well, then we are told that well, maybe they'll support her, but the turnout will be lousy. Hogwash! If Hillary Rodham Clinton is the first female nominee for president and she has a strong progressive record she will get lots of support in the general election from women--including younger women. This is as historic a candidacy as was Barack Obama in 2008 and young people, I don't believe, will sit it out.

Secondly, she will choose (I predict) a running mate who will also enthuse younger voters. While I can't say she will choose him for sure--I could see her selecting a running mate like Julian Castro--young, charismatic and would have lots of appeal in the vital Latino community (which if Trump is the nominee, I believe we will also see record numbers of Latinos supporting the Democratic ticket).

The media likes to create talking points and right now their talking points are about how HRC can't win younger voters in the general election and I say these early contests are not indicative of how a general election will go--when you have one progressive ticket against one regressive ticket. It will be a whole new ball game. Furthermore, Bernie is a good guy who knows the consequences of electing a GOP president. He will (as HRC would if he were the nominee) enthusiastically support and campaign for HRC and urge his follwers to do so.

I'm not concerned with her losing the youth vote. I think you're pretty spot-on with your analysis. What concerns me is the non youth vote. 30-60'S. They are familiar with her and her baggage (whether or not it's b.s.)

I'm afraid she'll turn off independants. That's what I'm seeing here in the Midwest, anyway (and there's no scientific analysis in my opinion). Regardless, she's got me if she wins the nom...

Especially a Trump or a Cruz. They will come out for Hillary and with 90% of Democratic support, it is a landslide for her.

I'm talking more about center and right. I hope you are right though. But, back to work. Good luck in the primaries Hill supporters!
