Obama had some rough primary losses in 2008

I was for Obama during that grueling primary season in 2008. Maybe some of you were too, or maybe you were for Hillary back then too.

Anyway, Obama lost New Hampshire unexpectedly, then won a whole bunch more states, then got slapped down in Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island. Then he won a few more. Then he lost Pennsylvania, lost a close one in Indiana, won a close on in North Carolina, got crushed in Kentucky, West Virginia and Puerto Rico and lost South Dakota.

As you know, things worked out ok for him.

It's a marathon.

Correction: NC was not that close.

It's very easy to overreact right now because, first of all, we are so early in this thing, we want to get out to a fast start and just get everything going in our direction immediately. And second, at the beginning here, there is such a large gap of time between primaries and so much media coverage on just that state, that not winning it makes it seem much more dramatic than what it really is.

And Bernie is a niche. (Not in a bad way).

I would like it if Hillary had one specific DOMESTIC issue she excelled on. Foreign policy will excel in the GE, but we need to get excited.

I'm pro Hillary because she's the smartest candidate up there.

I think Hill win alot of primaries.. what scares me is if the young people and independents don't vote for her in the general cause Bernie lost and then they don't vote or vote for trump or cruz.. its terrifying.. i hope we all come together at the end!

From today's Primary, the voter breakdown by age for Democrats was:

18-29: 16%
30-44: 20%
45-64: 41%
65+: 22%

...which is actually dreadful as far as the young people are concerned. So they weren't very motivated by Bernie to begin with, or I figure they would have gotten their asses out to vote for him.

That's pretty much a carbon copy of IA, where the youth didn't show up to vote there either.

So at this point, I'd simply count on the youth showing up at about the same rate in the generals as in 2012...not very well, in other words. Obama still won by a mile.

Sounds about right... plus Bernie said this which is important and a good thing too....

I want to take this opportunity again to congratulate Secretary Clinton and her organization and supporters for waging a vigorous campaign. I hope that in the days ahead we can continue to wage a strong, issue oriented campaign, and bring new people into the political process.

But, I also hope that we all remember -- and this is a message not just to our opponents, but to those who support me as well -- that we will need to come together in a few months and unite this party, and this nation because the right-wing Republicans we oppose must not be allowed to gain the presidency.
