Hillary Clinton diverts to Flint to show support
FLINT, Mich. Hillary Clinton took her campaign to church Sunday, departing New Hampshire two days before the primary to travel to this beleaguered city to assure residents that they haven't been forgotten.
Clinton joined several hundred Flint residents, almost all African-American, at the House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church immediately following a raucous Sunday service in which the pastor preached a message of hope in the face of the water contamination crisis that has rocked the city.
"This is not merely unacceptable or wrong, though it is both. What happened in Flint is immoral. The children in Flint are just as precious as the children in any other part of America," she said.
For Clinton, the meeting was an opportunity to distinguish herself from Bernie Sanders in a majority-black city just a month before the state's March 8 primary. Clinton has railed about the water crisis here early and often. She declared at a Democratic debate last month in South Carolina that "every single American should be outraged" about Flint's water contamination, and she sent campaign aides to meet with Flint Mayor Karen Weaver to discuss the issue. Weaver, a Democrat who has endorsed Clinton, met with Clinton Sunday. Clinton also said she met on Sunday with Flint mothers who told her about how the contaminated water affected their children.

Hillary doesn't have time for BS's accusations that she's not "Progressive" enough.. she's too busy out getting things done.
This is what kind of a POTUS Hillary Clinton will make.

(297,275 posts)Flint Mayor Karen Weaver has endorsed Hillary.
Hillary left New Hampshire even though she's trailing to bring even more attention to it. Thank You, Hillary Clinton. this is what Presidents do.
Why Clinton brought up Flint's water crisis
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton didn't want to leave Sunday night's Democratic presidential debate without addressing one topic that didn't come up until she mentioned it: Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder's handling of a contaminated water crisis in Flint, Michigan.
"I think every single American should be outraged," Clinton said. "We've had a city in the United States of America where the population, which is poor in many ways, and majority African American has been drinking and bathing in led contaminated water. And the governor of that state acted as though he didn't really care. He had requests for help that he basically stonewalled. I'll tell you what: If the kids in a rich suburb of Detroit had been drinking contaminated water and being bathed in it, there would have been action."
Clinton went on to say she sent her "top campaign aide" to Michigan to "talk to the mayor of Flint to see what I could do to help and I issued a statement about what we needed to do and then I went on a TV show and said it was outrageous that the governor had not acted and within an hour or two he had."

Do you really want to play "firsties?" And what has Bernie done since?
Hillary brought the Flint crisis up again - unprompted - in the debate on Jan 17 and has continued to work with the Mayor and others to see what actually can be done to improve things. NOW - not in some mythical revolutionary future.

(24,568 posts)Yes they do. You have a big pulpit these days, Bernie, so why aren't you using it to keep this issue front and center? Why not do some brainstorming to come up with some of that "more" they deserve? One call out for the governor to resign and then *crickets*. Not very presidential imo.

(82,383 posts)And the governor resigning is no help. And the governor will never resign due to Bernie demands.

(297,275 posts)and more into infotainment central. Fighting for ratings not the important news that people need to know to make their lives better and this a better country.
Their agenda is 180 degrees opposite. You'd think ratings would sky rocket if there were an actual news station.. reality driven not manufactured.
