No wonder he doesnt have many Democratic endorsements.
In 1986 Bernie opposed Madeleine Kunin, the first female Governor of Vermont, when she ran for her second term. She reports that when she expressed concern that his running against her might help elect the Republican, he replied that the Democrats and Republicans were Tweedledee and Tweedledum.
In other words, in 1986 he was saying that the party of John Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, George McGovern, Eugene McCarthy, Jesse Jackson, Andrew Young, Shirley Chisholm, and others,
was no different than the party of Richard Nixon, Spiro Agnew, Ronald Reagan, Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas, Karl Rove, the Bushes, etc.
Just Tweedledee and Tweedledum.
That is the same expression Ralph Nader used in 2000 to compare George W. and Al Gore. Apparently Nader liked the sound of that.
Just Tweedledee and Tweedledum.

Hillary Clinton is not the first progressive Democratic woman to be challenged by Bernie Sanders. He ran against me in 1986 when I was running for my second term as governor of Vermont. At that time he had little affinity for the Democratic Party. When advised that his third-party candidacy might result in a Republican victory, he saw no difference between Democrats and Republicans, saying: It is absolutely fair to say you are dealing with Tweedledum and Tweedledee.
Voters did not agree. Sanders received 14 percent of the vote, the Republican candidate, Peter Smith received 38 percent, and I wo
some people just want to watch everything burn, no pun intended

(50,560 posts)I said a few days ago that Sanders' base was the same as Trump's: pissed-off under-30 males who need someone to blame for their current situation. Which, as any poll breakout will tell you, is the absolute truth. OMG you'd have thought I suggested Bernie WAS Trump.
