Now I know what some of you are going to say: The wave of support he’ll bring to the polls in November would hand Congress back over to Democrats so he could get this passed.

No, it won’t.

First, there’s almost zero chance Democrats reclaim a majority in the House of Representatives this November, though there is a distinct possibility that they can retake the majority in the Senate. But even if, by some miracle, Democrats took back the House and gained a majority in the Senate – they would still need 60 seats in the Senate to prevent Republicans from being able to filibuster legislation. That’s even more unlikely than Democrats winning back a majority in the House.

But even beyond all of that, there’s another reality many Sanders supporters seem to ignore. That is, there are quite a few congressional Democrats from somewhat conservative areas of this country supported by left of center voters who would oppose some of the policies on which Sanders is running. So it’s not just that Sanders would need Democrats to take back both the House and Senate, he would need overwhelming majorities in both houses to stand any chance of his proposals getting through the legislative process.

He has never leveled about the tax implications and why would he? It's much easier to be vague and trash all those who don't see things his way.

8. There's a "vanity" aspect of it as well ...

... regardless of the fact that NOTHING gets accomplished, I'm sure that some people get a great deal of self-satisfaction in the knowledge that they shot-for-the-moon and failed.

Rather than taking a practical approach and being humble about making a series of small incremental gains (which benefit people NOW) there is a certain group that see failure as something that's to be admired.

Well, I guess the failure itself isn't literally what's being admired ... but the self-congratulatory back-slapping and proclamations of how much admiration they deserve for attempting the impossible make me wonder what their actual motivations really are.

They look down on those who are willing to negotiate and find realistic workable solutions that have the most immediate benefits. In their minds, only perfection will do. Smaller gains are not even worth doing, especially if it involves ANY hint of compromise.

Such an attitude is short-sighted, and it's selfish. Pure vanity.

The problem is that Sanders supporters suffer from social contagion and they actually believe absolutely everything he says. When he changes a position or attempts to justify a bad one they are totally forgiving without exception and they don't even blink when he plays dirty tricks or breaks promises or rules (if Hillary's campaign did any of this it would be proof of her corruption). Their hatred of Hillary Clinton and insistence that she is the head of the Hydra is alarming, because it is both irrational and completely ignores her decades of achievements and causes she has and still does hold dear.

An example case of social contagion often used in Social Psychology is the mass hysteria of "Koro" where villagers all claim that their bodies are swallowing their penises. All of a sudden normal penis retraction seems abnormal due to all the reports and claims of others. These things tend to be cultural or regional specific. While this example doesn't seem to relate to Sanders followers...think about it. They do not see reality just like those men in the example. They tend to come from the same cultural demographic.

I should add, though, that not all Sanders followers are this deluded. Some genuinely seem to like the guy and think he deserves a shot, but take some of his proposals with a grain of salt--even admit that they doubt he could win, so they are more reality based.
