of Bernie Sanders ...

Per Rachel Maddow, who also explains her methodology for these totals at the link:
Its worth emphasizing that many of Trumps 2015 appearances came via telephone as opposed to an in-person, sit-down interview which may lead some to believe his overall victory should come with an asterisk.
For those inclined to overlook his total, Bernie Sanders and Ben Carson were pretty busy on Sunday mornings, too, with each making 28 appearances.
Broadly speaking, once again, Republican voices easily outnumbered their Democratic counterparts last year. The above chart shows every political figure who made 10 or more Sunday show appearances this year based on Nexis transcripts and the shows archives with red columns representing Republicans and blue columns representing Democrats.

(30,058 posts)Sanders is not suffering from media blackout, he has been given plenty of opportunity to get his story delivered.

(15,373 posts)But somehow everything is a conspiracy against him.
I can understand why MOM supporters might believe that there is a blackout, but truly do not understand why Bernie's supporters do.

(12,448 posts)Whenever a poll is cited, whenever something positive about Hillary is posted, it's all because the media is "ignoring" Bernie. I don't hear Sanders complaining about a media blackout, and he doesn't strike me as being shy about something like that. I think he'd point it out immediately (and loudly!) if he thought it was a problem.

(614 posts)first of all, this is not per rachel, but her indefatigable helpmate, steve benen.
second, could you people please put these data into the larger perspective? these are strictly for the sunday morning shows! collectively, the mere FOUR such shows only garner 8 percent total of viewers in that time slot! that represents comparatively near zero of the larger prime time viewing audience!! please go here to see more.
note in benen's linked chart that only FOUR democrats are represented out of the top 20. which was of course his point. but trying to claim that his data somehow upend the larger observation that PRIME TIME NEWS SHOWS - ESP. ABC - VIRTUALLY IGNORE SANDERS is not in any way accurate or astute and frankly smacks of desperation.
also note that clinton is nowhere to be found on that sunday morning list. why is it she avoids those shows? you cannot possibly believe she has not been invited. she avoids them for the same reason she resisted more debates; she does not want to be locked into stating positions that might haunt her 'inevitability.'
compare to sanders, who has adhered to his principled position on essentially every issue as closely as any politician i have observed since jfk. wait; i have only observed since jfk; historically, that would have to be since fdr.
just, y'know, for the record.

She's not appearing because everyone knows who she is, as a result she's well out ahead, and she doesn't want to provide thousands of unfriendly right-wing and anti-liberal commentators more opportunities to distort her words into weapons. But you seem to know that too.

(32,623 posts)At least it seems JFK didn't make you sick like he did BS
Wonder why Benen considered BS a Dem, as he wasn't except for that politically expedient sliver of last year.

(8 posts)According to the Tyndal report
Republican front runner Donald Trump, unsurprisingly, is the most-covered candidate in the race. In fact, he alone has gotten more airtime (234 minutes) than the entire Democratic field (226 minutes).
That sounds about right for the media as a whole, doesnt it?
Democratic favorite Hillary Clinton is the second-most-covered candidate, at 113 minutes.
Two other things stand out: First, Vice President Joe Biden, who flirted with a run but ultimately stayed out of the Democratic race, got far more coverage (56 minutes) than Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont (10 minutes), who actually is running and polled well for much of the summer and fall.

Not disagreeing with Rachel, but just another prospective.
