Progressives Don't Run the Democratic Party

In a recent poll 55% of Democrats listed themselves as either conservative or centrist Democrats, while 43% listed themselves as liberal/progressive Democrats.

I believe a centrist Democrat, like Hillary, has an advantage because she will work within the system. Bernie and progressives want to blow it up and start over. Just check out posts by Bernie supporters. When they are not attacking Republicans they are attacking Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.

This primary polling reflects the above numbers. Among Democrats she is crushing Bernie among center and center right Democrats. In fact the only demographic among Democrats Bernie wins is the young and more liberal Democrats.

The big guy agrees with me.

“I think one of the best decisions I ever made as president was to ask Hillary Clinton to serve as our nation’s secretary of state,” the president said.

Hillary has the ability of working with all and she also has the ability to work with Republicans. She does not have the TP attitude where if you are not with them then you are against them.

Thanks. We are cruising to victory in November.
And, if the other side can't correct their course, my state of South Carolina might actually be in play for a Clinton-Trump contest. Every Republican I know here is embarrassed/scared about his candidacy.

It seems to be like Fundamentalist Christians. It just means that they get to set the parameters, that what is Progressive (or Fundamental) is whatever they believe. I have been pretty much popping a vein over the idea that economic progressivism is the ONLY parameter to measure, that race, sexual orientation and gender issues are secondary.

And that is flat out not true. This country was founded on a compromise that allowed genocide. We fought a bloody civil war over it, and we are still basically fighting that war today. Racism is not dead. Jim Crow still lives. And don't even get me started on people who want to dictate what I can do with my female body.... But somehow I am not really "Progressive" because I don't genuflect to Bernie Sanders. Actually, I am radical on these issues in comparison to most of them. And on economic issues I am just pragmatic. Pretty socialist right now, actually, because of where we are as a country with the wealth divide. But it is not an ideology with me. Just want what works for the majority of the citizens.

And also that they do not understand that we have been working FOR YEARS on the campaign finance issues and it is the SUPREME COURT that is screwing it up. It has been easy to find Democrats who are willing to pass laws that limit campaign spending, and then the legislation gets overturned by the SUPREME COURT. It is not a centrist vs. progressive issue. Let me say that again. IT IS NOT A CENTRIST VS. PROGRESSIVE ISSUE. ALL Democrats want to limit money in politics and increase voter participation. Because MATH. Dems have an almost unlimited number of potential supporters who don't vote or don't vote consistently. Reps have pretty much maxed their potential voter pool. They are mostly old and white. Demographics are shifting toward a non-white US and their guys are dying off. ALL they have left is money. So nearly ALL Democratic politicians want better campaign finance laws because they like to win, and finance laws help.

In the short term, you need to play the game to win. That means you have to raise the money and appeal to the center. It's an ELECTION. The candidate with the most votes wins. So CENTER is where most of those votes live. Again, very simple MATH.

Once you win, you can start changing the rules. And THAT is where the battle of centrists vs. progressives begins.

Wow that was long.... Clearly I have been saving up Thoughts about this issue. I should do an OP, but I don't have patience right now.

The Pragmatism that BS supporters mock for no apparent reason other than it was Obama at the time. They attacked him too instead of republicons.

You only have to look at his record and at what Hillary has accomplished in her life to know how silly is the mocking.

Obama: Making Hillary Clinton secretary of State one of my ‘best decisions’

Asking Hillary Clinton to serve as secretary of State was "one of the best decisions I ever made as president," President Obama told philanthropists and donors gathered Tuesday at the Clinton Global Initiative meeting in New York City.

The president showered the former first lady — and front-runner for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination — with praise, saying he "will always be grateful for her extraordinary leadership."

Obama went on to joke that he still had "a lot of debt to pay" because of the miles Clinton traveled when in his administration. But he also praised the former New York senator for her "post-administration glow."
"She looks much more rested," Obama said to laughter.

I admire Hillary so much for her answer to President Obama's call to service. They started working together for the good of the country and our Planet. Not stuck in the past like so many people who only want to go on and on about it.

Evidently they've remained good friends.. and I couldn't be happier.

Against each in the primary to running together in his administration, doing the necessary miles to make this a better country and for the DNC. They have given many hours and still willing to continue working for Americans, two statesmen I have been happy to support.

Frankly I am so over being called a republican or not liberal and that's the nice stuff they say about Hillary supporters.

But I figure we will get the last laugh come Super Tuesday when he leaves the race and it can't come soon enough.
