SALEM, N.H — Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton unveiled a tax credit proposal Tuesday that she said will put more Americans back to work after the worst economic decline since the Great Depression.

The former New York senator and U.S. secretary of state outlined her plan during a town hall meeting at Woodbury School.

Nearly 800 people, including many Massachusetts residents, packed the school gymnasium as Clinton spoke and fielded questions from the audience for more than hour.

She was introduced by Barbara Couch of Hypertherm, a 1,400-employee electronics manufacturing firm in Hanover where workers own all of the stock in the company.

As Couch stood by her side, Clinton touted her proposed "Manufacturing Renaissance Tax Credit" aimed at increasing jobs by offering tax incentives to businesses.

Investing in communities where factories are at risk of closing and jobs are in danger of being sent to other countries will provide an economic boost, she said. ...........

PORTSMOUTH — Exeter resident Jackie K. Weatherspoon was busy signing a poster stating why she supports Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton Thursday night, days after seeing the former secretary of state in New York City.

"In her speech she said she would be a president for all Americans," Weatherspoon said, in addition to scribing that message on the large white canvas. "She will do that too."...................

Weatherspoon was one of roughly 80 Seacoast residents gathered to celebrate the opening of Clinton's campaign office in Portsmouth. The former secretary of state was in the Granite State earlier this week, visiting Manchester, Concord and Rochester before campaign stops in South Carolina and Nevada this week.

Celebrating the former New York senator's campaign office opening was former state house speaker Terie Norelli, an ardent Clinton supporter.

"She is the most qualified candidate and that breadth of experience — she cares about the same issues," Norelli said, adding that those issues include economic security, access to health care and strong foreign relations. "She has listened to our concerns. She understands how important it is to advocate for women around the world.".............
