Hillary Clinton Just Trolled the GOP Debate So Good

http://www.motherjones.com/mojo/2015/09/hillary-clinton-just-trolled-gop-presidential-candidates

In Donald Trump's America, everyone speaks English.

When asked by CNN's Dana Bash during Wednesday night's GOP debate about his criticism of Jeb Bush for speaking Spanish on the campaign trail, the Republican front-runner and real estate mogul responded:

We have to have assimilation to have a country. We have to have assimilation. I'm not the first one to say this, Dana. We have had many people over the years for many, many years saying the same thing. This is a country where we speak English, not Spanish.

In true troll fashion, Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton tweeted some insight.

For those who didn't understand her, Clinton said: "Freedom includes the right to speak in any language. That makes us strong as a country, and it is something that we should celebrate—not denigrate."

Quick translation--if the election were held today, HRC would win and take the latino vote decisively.

Many, many times new immigrants to the United States don't speak English and probably most of them never will. But their kids are going to grow up speaking two languages, which is good for them, good for the economy, good for the country. One of my degrees is Spanish, and while I don't have a job directly related to it, because I do speak Spanish, I find myself around Spanish speakers - including immigrants - more often than the next pasty white guy on the street, and when interacting with them, the parents rarely speak English, but their kids are fluent in both. That's the way it's always been - it's why we have and/or had Pennsylvania Dutch, Italian neighborhoods, barrios, Chinatowns, etc. Immigrant adults will tend to settle in areas where they have access to others who share their culture and language, where they work their asses off to provide a better life for their kids who do assimilate into a predominantly English-speaking nation while at the same time being able to interact with the people from the "old country." Many times I've seen it where by the third generation, they've started to lose quite a bit in being able to communicate with the grandparents.

It's the people who live in homogenous areas, where the police are on the lookout for anyone who doesn't fit the demographic, that just can't deal.
