Clinton: Lincoln's Republican Party becoming divisive party of Trump

SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS -- In the midst of a heated presidential campaign, Democrat Hillary Clinton spoke softly to an attentive crowd at the Old State Capitol Wednesday, decrying violence that has rocked the country and what she called the danger of a Donald Trump presidency.

She also promised that her first 100 days as president would bring “the biggest investment in new, good-paying jobs since World War II.”

After she started speaking, it was more than 16 minutes into her half-hour address to about 200 invitees that her words were first interrupted with applause.

“We need a president who can help pull us together, not split us apart,” Clinton said, generating the audience reaction. “And that is why I believe Donald Trump is so dangerous.”
