(135,425 posts)not anything Sanders himself has said. This is the view of an activist -- and the point being made really has as much to do with Sanders' supporters (some of whom are a bit, shall we say, unkind) as Sanders himself.
I suspect the reason the Democratic Party machine gave Sanders the protection of their big tent is because they'd rather have him in the tent pissing out than outside the tent pissing in. He's not winning any super-delegates. Not a one, yet, that I have heard of. Clinton's got at least 200, I think.

(4,008 posts)He trashs the Democratic Party often last week in politico he stated Democratic Party is politically bankrupt.
Well news flash cranky old man don't look for us at the local level to gotv in our precincts. This socialist will be lucky to get 35% in any national polling that should be his ceiling
Sorry had to rant

(135,425 posts)safe harbor under our big tent, to mix metaphors.
While there are many of us who will vote for the nominee, there will be some who just stay home if he somehow wins the nomination (and I do not see a path for him--he can't compete once the ads start running-not without PAC money, which he refuses to take, and he has zero superdelegates). His stump speech is nice, but it's the same shit, over and over, and he doesn't show us how he gets from pipe dream to reality.
He's a nice guy--I just don't think he'll make it. SOME (not all, mind you--some) of his supporters can be really vitriolic, stupid and nasty. They don't help their candidate when they act like that, so we should be careful to not imitate them. It's easy to want to lash back out, but it's just not a good move.
Clinton has the better arguments, she has the international credibility (which candidate knows EVERY world leader by their first name?), she has a long record of experience, and she has the backing of most Democratic leaders.
Watch out for Politico--they love to shit-stir! They're owned by a wingnut family of creepy Republicans, the same people who kicked Bill Mahr off of ABC after Nahn Wun Wun.

(47,488 posts)He was asked yesterday by Chuck Todd, and I've asked on these pages - GD - and the answer is that in Vermont one cannot register, or be elected? as a Democrat. Yet, Senator Patrick Leahy is a Democratic Senator.

(55,147 posts)But many people hold that same opinion. I happen to be one of them.
I use to like Senator Sanders but it has become abundantly clear that he has no business on a national stage. The more he talks the more I do not like him especially when I think of him sitting in the oval office (already went through 8 years of that once, don't plan on doing it again).

(9,148 posts)EDITING for the right reasons.
Here from the comments:
"I am disgusted with the Democratic Party that I have been active in for 60 years. Sanders is not a Democrat. He uses the word to run as he knows he cannot win as a Socialist or as an Independent.
Sanders has nothing in common with the Democratic Party. It would be a disaster for the Democratic Party to nominate anyone as its standard bearer who took the label of Democrat whereas he has done nothing but bad mouth Democrats and could not get a single endorsement from any Democrat in Vermont.
The stakes are high, but I cannot see myself ever voting for Sanders."

Thanks Bernie fans. You will not get the Dem votes you were counting on. The vileness of Bernie supporters towards the other Dem candidates will destroy the Dem Party & hand the Presidency to whomever the GOP runs in the GE.
It is not the fault of Sanders, its his supporters.
Bernie Sanders will never defeat the GOP in the GE. He will lose the support of many of the voters of the Dem Party.
Support your Dem candidate but to borrow the GOP talking points to destroy the Dem competition will, in the end alienate their huge voting block.
Sanders' supporters sound a lot like Republicans lately.

(9,148 posts)Apologies..I mistook you for another.
However, i think also, that it may be necessary for some to read the truth of how Sanders is viewed by true members of the Dem Party.
Good luck.

(30,058 posts)Yes, he is using the DNC for his advantage and is trying to tell Democrats he way is better than the way we have known for years. Not happening here, after the Rachel Maddow show last week spotlighting Democratic candidates I know why I do not like the Bernie way.

(28 posts)Everyone is aware of the downsides of running a national campaign as an independent--and at many times history has revealed that reality. Moreover, the fact that he caucuses with the democrats gives him basis to run on the democratic ticket--and not to mention his policy positions. These articles often seem as a sleazy attempt to derail his credibility, and therefore his candidacy.

(297,340 posts)This is Hillary's Group. For her supporters.
I do support her. However, I think to advocate for her is to show support for her and positively market her within the Democratic Party (independents , ect)--and not to waste time complaining about something that you cannot and will not be able to change.
