NBC POLL: Clinton's lead over Trump widens once Bernie drops out.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2016/05/31/1532655/-NBC-POLL-Clinton-s-lead-over-Trump-widens-once-Bernie-drops-out

Hillary leads Trump 46 — 43 with Bernie still campaigning, 51 — 43 once he leaves the race. It’s just as some of us have been saying all along. It also suggests part of Bernie’s “polling advantage” over Clinton is the result of some of his supporters not wanting to support Hillary while they think Bernie is still viable. So let’s drop all the handwringing, even the fake handwringing, about the election and get Hillary in the White House, a Democratic majority in the Senate, and, at the least, whittle down the Republican majority in the House. Everything else is just distraction. If you want to advance a progressive agenda there is, for now, one means of doing it. But there are lots of ways to screw it up.

A few people have pointed out the second numbers are actually an extrapolation of the poll data — NBC/WSJ took the poll, assumed 70% of Sanders voters would vote for Hillary, and presented those numbers. Not wording this correctly was my oversight, so here is the correction. Personally, I think 70% is a conservative number, but it’s close enough to illustrate the point: Hillary is not the weak, deeply unpopular candidate she is portrayed as being in some quarters. Her “weak” poll numbers at this point are largely a product of Bernie still being in the race, while Trump has the GOP side all to himself, along with one other factor which there is no point in exploring at this late stage of the primary.

But Hillary's the presumptive nominee, it doesn't matter about Bernie's hypothetical lead. Tarheel_Dem Jun 2016 #9
That makes good sense. nt anotherproletariat Jun 2016 #10

to lose. I sure hope this run for Bernie finishes his political career. He is a total self-serving ass-hole in progressive clothing.

He is going to spend the rest of his life trashing the Democratic party and surrounding himself with as many malcontents and greedy children as he possibly can.

He keeps saying it but no one seems to believe him.

...beyond when the RW moneyed interests focused their smear machine on him. By the time they were through with him a significant majority of the voting public would believe he was more Commie than Castro. They've been trying to bring Hillary down for 25 years. They'd have a far easier time with St. Bernard.
